About BuildHub

BuildHub is an independent online guide to trades and construction businesses in New Zealand. We publish city-by-city shortlists of builders, scaffolders, concreters, fencers, roofers, electricians and more, alongside plain-English advice on costs, consents and how to compare quotes.

The problem we exist to solve is simple: when you need a tradie, you get either a wall of ads or a directory of two hundred names with no way to tell them apart. A researched shortlist of five, with honest context about pricing and the rules that apply, is more useful than either.

How we work

Every guide is researched individually. We look at each business's trade focus, experience, service area, licensing and certification where the trade requires it, and what customers say publicly. We publish new guides every fortnight rather than generating hundreds of pages at once, because doing one region properly beats doing fifty badly. The full detail is on our How We Rank page.

How the site is funded

Some businesses featured on BuildHub may have a commercial relationship with us. That funding keeps the site running. It never changes the facts we publish about any business, our pricing guidance, or our advice sections, which are written for the reader. Our Terms of Use carry the full disclosure.

Corrections

Businesses change hours, numbers and services. If something in a guide is out of date, tell us and we will fix it in the next update. Every guide shows its last-updated date.
